ECONZ Secures Major Export Deal Installing Wireless Dispatch System for NRMA's 550 Roadside Assistance Vehicles in New South Wales
Kiwi software developer creates more jobs, consolidating position as leading supplier to Australasian AA's
AUCKLAND - 11 December 2002 - ECONZ, New Zealand's leading wireless software development company, today announced the signing of a major export deal with NRMA Motoring and Services of New South Wales. The NRMA is the largest automobile association in Australasia with more than 2 million members.
The contract involves the design and servicing of a computer aided wireless dispatch and call taker system for the NRMA emergency breakdown service, which manages 550 roadside assistance vehicles and 12,000 daily peak calls throughout New South Wales and ACT. ECONZ's continual growth in the Australian market will create ten new jobs at the Auckland head office as the company oversees the NRMA system from New Zealand.
The ECONZ dispatch system is a significant component of an A$11.7 million technology upgrade announced by NRMA Motoring and Services. The primary software supplier in the IT upgrade, ECONZ will implement and service the new dispatch system over the next five years. The first phase will be completed in April 2003, with the final version scheduled for implementation in November 2003.
The NRMA Motoring and Services deal builds on ECONZ's earlier success providing wireless dispatch systems to the one million strong Royal Automobile Club of Queensland (RACQ) in 1999, as well as the New Zealand Automobile Association, with 700,000 members, in 2000.
"ECONZ proved they have a powerful solution which has worked successfully in other automobile associations," says Rob Carter, CEO of NRMA Motoring and Services. "The new wireless system provides excellent functionality, volume and capacity. It will generate greater efficiency in the dispatch of emergency breakdown vehicles, reducing wait times per incident."
In securing the NRMA Motoring and Services deal, ECONZ successfully edged out three other competitive pitches. "Part of our success is a thorough understanding of the AA space," explains Michael Hartley, CEO of ECONZ. "The inherent flexibility of our AA solution allows the technology to be easily structured around the unique culture of each client, regardless of size."
"The NRMA Motoring and Services deal further consolidates ECONZ's position as the leading supplier of dispatch systems to automobile associations throughout the region. We are currently exploring additional Australian projects, as well as investigating opportunities with a number of North American automobile associations," he says.
