Telstra Annual General Meeting – Media Arrangements
I wish to extend an invitation to you to attend Telstra’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) 2002 and to inform you of the special arrangements in place for media representatives on the day.
The AGM will be held at 10.00am (Melbourne time) on Friday, 15 November 2002 at the Melbourne Exhibition Centre, Clarendon Street, Southbank, Melbourne.
Media who wish to attend on the day are required to complete and return the pre-registration form accompanying this letter. We request that media representatives arrive thirty minutes prior to the scheduled start of the meeting to register, when you will be issued with a name-tag that must be worn prominently at all times. Once inside the meeting, journalists must remain in the designated media seating area.
As you would be aware, the meeting is for shareholders and as such only shareholders will be permitted to ask questions during the course of the meeting. However, after the meeting journalists will have an opportunity to take part in a media conference in the designated media room at the Convention Centre.
Immediately prior to the commencement of the AGM, you have an opportunity to photograph and film the meeting. After approximately 15 minutes, photographers and TV cameras will be asked to leave the meeting. Journalists can remain in the media seating area, but no pictures can be taken.
The media room at the Convention Centre will provide fax and phone facilities, closed circuit TV of the Chairman and CEO speeches, and audio and video splitter boxes. A direct broadcast feed can be obtained for both speeches. Interested media outlets must book this service at least 24 hours before the event through the Transmission Operations Centre on 1800 802 656. The Chairman and CEO speeches will also be webcast on Telstra’s Investor Relations website at: www.telstra.com.au/investor/agm02.htm
Telstra’s National Manager Media Relations, Michael Grealy, and his team will be present on the day to assist you with any requests.
To register your intention to attend, please complete the attached form and return it by fax on 03 9634 8826 by 5pm on Wednesday, 13 November 2002.
In the meantime, if you have any media questions regarding this event feel free to contact Telstra Media Relations on 02 9298 4621.
Yours sincerely
Douglas Gration Company Secretary
