New releases in CCTV industry
Security industry importer and distributor C.R. Kennedy New Zealand is introducing several new products to the local
market. Continuous technological advances in the CCTV field bring a swift flow of updated components that deliver
improved performance, greater compatibility and products designed to meet the needs of all users from small retailers to
airports, banks and other large commercial complexes spread throughout the country. New to the market are products from
major players in the CCTV industry including Philips, Dallmeier, TVS, Samsung Techwin , Videotec, Pentax, Elmo and
Watec.
Philips G3 Autodome The newest versions of Philips’ AutoDome cameras are now available and feature an extended optical
zoom to 25x, after which a 12x digital zoom and digital image stabiliser can be used to further enhance the picture.
Auto Gain Control (AGC) function has also been improved and can be set to six predetermined limits to help ensure a
properly exposed image in a wide range of lighting conditions. The AutoDomes’ flexible user options allow the cameras to
be customised to meet any user’s requirements. Features include sector blanking and privacy masking, which can limit
operators from viewing video from selected fields or areas.
Dinion cameras Philips’ new series of eight digital mid-range ‘smart’ surveillance CCTV cameras have higher performance
than any other camera in their class. The monochrome/colour cameras are compatible with virtually every type and brand
of CCTV equipment, and feature a comprehensive range of picture enhancement features to perform in all conditions,
inside or out. These cameras will be available later this year.
Dallmeier Arriving soon from Dallmeier are the DIS-1 and DIS-4 recorders, and Smart GUI. The DIS-series digital
recorders utilise MPEG-2 video compression (similar to the technology used in DVDs). While the DIS-1 is a single channel
recorder, the DIS-4 that follows it records on four channels. The use of the MPEG-2 compression ensures exceptional DVD
quality picture.
Smart Graphic User Interface (GUI) is a software management tool ideally suited to large network systems, or a system
where a visual layout is preferred. It employs two PC screens operating from one PC that is remotely connected to one or
several Dallmeier units. The first screen can depict virtually any system map, including geographic features, floor
plans and camera positions, which can be multi-layered and accessed by point and click. The second screen becomes the
viewing screen that can show live or recorded footage using Dallmeier PView software.
TVS C.R. Kennedy has brought in CRT & LCD monitors designed by TVS specifically for the CCTV industry, including the latest 19” rack mount colour monitor
(CM-19DXA) that features two composite looping inputs and one Y/C looping input. A member of the TVS Smart Series, it
also has on screen display, manual switch and over 800 TVL resolution.
Videotec Videotec’s new Verso housing will house and protect almost any combination of cameras and lenses. Made
completely of technopolymer, Verso housing meets weatherproof standard IP66 and has a high impact resistance. The
housing opens from the side for easy camera servicing, and has range of accessories such as sunshields and alarm tamper
kits. A compact model is available for smaller cameras. Also from Videotec, C.R. Kennedy has introduced the DCJ video
and telemetry control keyboard. Designed to provide maximum performance in terms of telemetry control, the DCJ can
interface with products from a wide range of manufacturers.
Samsung Techwin The SVT-7120 features in the new STV-7000 series of real and time-lapse VCR recorders from Samsung
Techwin. This recorder features a new look with shuttle control allowing the user to select the playback speed in
