EFFIE® Awards Gala

22 August 2002

CAANZ Media Release

EFFIE® Awards Gala

The first New Zealand EFFIE Awards gala is to be held on Thursday 29th August at the ASB Lounge, Eden Park, in Auckland.

Executive Director of CAANZ, Lynne Clifton said that this was going to be a show not to be missed, with TVNZ's Eric Young as Master of Ceremonies and a great line-up of entertainment. "We have pulled out all the stops to make sure that this is the best show of the year - we are launching EFFIEs to New Zealand with style - it is going to be a great night and a real celebration of the power of advertising and marketing communications".

"The EFFIE Awards are recognised by both advertisers and agencies as the pre-eminent award in the advertising industry - the world standard in measuring the success of an advertising campaign."

"EFFIE is unique because they are awarded only when smart marketing, advertising and media disciplines have come together to provide true impact in the marketplace - so it's about partnerships between agencies, clients and media in creating successful campaigns".

EFFIE programs are held in 19 countries on five continents. Clifton says that the New Zealand EFFIE Awards will place our work alongside some of the greatest campaigns the world has ever seen.

CAANZ holds the EFFIE franchise for New Zealand and operates in partnership with the Association of NZ Advertisers and major sponsor, Television New Zealand.

Clifton said "launching EFFIE into New Zealand has been a rewarding experience. We have received incredible support from the market, and in our first year entry numbers exceeded previous Effectiveness Awards. Former 3A's Director David Innes convened the panel of judges, which comprised 22 of the country's top marketing, advertising and research practitioners."

EFFIE award winners and case studies will be online from Friday 30 August on www.effie.co.nz
