Local Farmers Work Hard Play Hard

The Elders will be kicking off their boots and grabbing their camera for a birds eye view of Southern New Zealand thanks to Wrightson and Ballance Agri-Nutrients.

The Elders were automatically in the draw to win $10,000 flying time in a Skyworks helicopter if they bought ten tonnes or more of Ballance fertiliser from Wrightson.

They were thrilled to win the “work hard play hard” promotion and have planned a scenic flight over Milford Sound and Stewart Island.

Ron will be taking his wife Janice, son Jonathan and daughter-in-law Michelle.

A condition of entry was that at least half of the time had to be used for recreation and leisure so Ron intends to use the remaining time to spray gorse on his new block.

“I’d like to thank both Wrightson and Ballance for the prize as we support both companies and enjoy working with them,” says Ron.

Ron buys most of his farm goods from his local Wrightson store and has been a loyal customer for many years. customer.

The Elder farm is located in the rolling country of Longridge North and has been expanded over the years from 197 hectares to 520 hectares.

The total number of stock farmed is 3,200 breeding ewes, 780 hoggets, 120 beef cows and their calves which are retained for18 months plus 40 bull calves purchased annually.

Terry Youngman, merchant relationship manager for Ballance Agri-Nutrients says he has been delighted with the success of the promotion.

The nationwide promotion ran from 4 February 2002 to 28 April 2002.

The French family from the Wairarapa and Simon and Eve Saxton from the Waikato were also winners in the promotion.
