Tech Companies From Down Under Move To Silicon Valley
75 Australian and New Zealand companies plan US market expansion

SAN Francisco, Calif., June 6, 2002, – While the Silicon Valley tech exodus continues, 75 companies from Down Under have sparked investor and business services interest with plans to move to the US and set up operations.

These early-stage tech and biotech companies arrived in San Francisco last Sunday for the Australian, New Zealand and American (ANZA) Technology Showcase (June 2-4, 2002), a networking event where they met potential business partners, VCs, distributors, business services professionals and financial, accounting and legal firms to support them as they move into the US.

ANZA Technology Network Chairman, Guy Manson said the response had been overwhelming both from Australia and New Zealand Presenting companies, and US delegates keen to work with these new companies.

“These companies are coming to the Valley with fresh opportunities for collaboration and information exchange,” Guy Manson said.

The Showcase companies heard from US business leaders such as Tim Draper, Founder and Managing Director of Draper Fisher Jurvetson, Dr Cynthia Robbins-Roth, Founder BioVenture Consultants and others on the process of setting up US operations and how to survive and flourish in the world’s most significant market.

Keynotes and business forums were presented by Phillip Merrick, Chairman and CEO webMethods, Andy Lark, SVP Sun Microsystems, Ken Hausman, Managing Director, Osprey Ventures, Dinesh Vaswani, General Partner, Walden International and Eric Nee, leading US technology journalist.
