Fonterra Appoints Fencepost CEO And Sets Company On Course
Kris Nygren has been appointed CEO of Fencepost.com, a subsidiary of Fonterra Co-operative Group, Fonterra Enterprises Managing Director and the company's Chief Development Officer, Alexander Töldte, announced today. Mr Nygren is based in Auckland and reports to Mr Töldte.
Fencepost.com is a rural website that provides New Zealand farmers with news, agricultural information and a growing number of web-based farm management tools.
Mr Nygren joins Fencepost from Unisys New Zealand where he was a Senior Solutions Specialist in the commercial media and transport practice specifically in the e-business domain in both New Zealand and Europe. During this time, he worked as a consultant to Fencepost. Mr Nygren was previously Managing Director AutoScout24 Scandinavia AB in Stockholm, an e-commerce business.
The future direction of Fencepost is now settled following last year's dairy industry merger. Its focus is on providing information and productivity tools for the agricultural sector, including access to milk data. Fencepost is also looking to further develop rural information services.
With a new CEO on board and the company's business direction finalised, Fencepost is now in a position to plan for the long-term and realise the cost benefits of the industry merger. Immediately, this will include moving staff from short-term contracts to longer-term employment arrangements. "Now that we are able to employ staff on a permanent basis, we can offer greater stability, give our customers better service and make considerable cost savings," Mr Nygren said.
