Fonterra Elections Votes Needed By Friday

Joint Returning Officers Kerry Heath and Pam Hikuroa said today that voting for the Fonterra Board of Directors election closes at 12 noon this Friday, 17 May. Ballot papers must be received by this time to be valid.

“It’s usual for things to come in at the last minute, but we don’t want shareholders who wish to vote to miss the deadline on Friday,” they said.

Ballot papers should be mailed immediately, or faxed to the Joint Returning Officers at 0800 10 12 14, to ensure they meet the Friday deadline.

Three directors will be elected in a nationwide vote of Fonterra shareholders. The candidates (in the order they appear on the ballot paper) are: Philip van der Bijl, Gerard Lynch, Malcolm Bailey, Greg Gent, Earl Rattray, Jim van der Poel, David Graham and Colin Holmes.

The Joint Returning Officers said that voting also closes at noon on Friday for shareholders in ward 1 – Northern Northland – who were voting to elect a councillor for the Shareholders’ Council. There are two candidates for the one seat in ward 1: Ken Rintoul and Kevin Baxter.

Vote counting for the elections will begin on Friday and candidates and shareholders will be informed of the results as soon as they are confirmed.

The appointments of Directors and Shareholders' Councillors will take effect from 1 June.
