Auckland Again Ranked One Of Top Lifestyle Cities
Auckland Again Ranked One Of Top Lifestyle Cities In The World
Auckland has moved up the ranks of the best cities in the world to live in, according to human resources consultancy William M Mercer.
Tourism Auckland has welcomed news that Auckland was ranked sixth-equal - alongside Frankfurt, Copenhagan and Helsinki - in the annual quality-of-life survey of 215 cities. Last year, Auckland was ranked seventh.
Rankings are based on 39 criteria including political, social, economic and environmental factors; personal safety and health; education; transport and other public services. Wellington ranked 22nd on the list.
A new survey by the worldwide consultancy also ranks the cities by cleanliness. Auckland ranks ninth in the world, just behind Wellington.
Tourism Auckland Chief Executive Graeme Osborne says the survey results confirm Auckland is a superior lifestyle city with visitor attractions to match.
"Our marketing, both domestically and internationally, highlights that Auckland is a modern, vibrant city with a rich culture and heritage, yet with spectacular natural experiences on our doorstep," he says. "Within half an hour of downtown Auckland you can be on a wild surf beach, on a sheltered island in the Hauraki Gulf or tramping through forested ranges."
