Gas Supply Disruption
Natural Gas Corporation (NGC) advises it is making good progress with repairs to the damaged 8-inch high pressure pipeline near Himatangi, and is hopeful that full supplies of gas to the southern half of the North Island can now restored by mid to late afternoon today.
NGC said there had been a noticeable reduction in gas use during this morning’s peak demand period, compared with normal levels. While linepack levels are expected to be sufficient to maintain supplies to domestic customers and essential services, pipeline pressures continue to decline and conservation of linepack remains essential.
NGC will continue to keep retailers informed of progress. Customers who have stopped using gas should await advice from their retailers regarding a return to normal supply.
