For Immediate Release 20/02/02

New Zealand's most popular lifestyle magazine show continued powerful growth. Latest circulation figures released on 20 February show NZ House & Garden selling more than 80,000 copies per month. This is an 18.5% increase in 12 months. Readership for this premium magazine also continues to rise. These results move NZ House & Garden, long the country's leading lifestyle title, into the position of leading monthly magazine, having overtaken Australian Woman's Weekly (a monthly title).

NZ House & Garden editor Kate Coughlan is delighted with these results and says they reflect the magazine's relationship with its readers. "They are the most important people in our world. We work to stay in touch with what our readers want and to respond to their thoughts about what they would enjoy in their magazine. The results also reflect the outstanding quality of writing, photography and production achieved in each month's issue. I thank my team for that".

The latest readership figures also reveal significant increases for other publications in the stable of INL magazines. Boating New Zealand now has 163,000 readers, up 6.5%, Style is up 7.6% to 99,000, New Zealand Trucking rises 4% to 103,000 while New Zealand Fishing News remains as the undisputed king of the fishing titles with a 2.9% increase to 276,000 readers per month ? and that's 202,000 MORE readers per month than its nearest rival.

As well as New Zealand Fishing News, Boating New Zealand and FHM have also both clearly staked the leadership in their respective fields. Boating has double the readership of its nearest rival, while FHM has no rival.

Sarah Sandley, the General Manager of INL Magazines, says the increases across the INL stable reflect the company's dedication to its readers in all fields.

"We've known for some time now that the future of magazine publishing is in lifestyle and niche titles. The continued, and growing, success of NZ House & Garden, Boating New Zealand and New Zealand Fishing News tells us that New Zealanders don't only enjoy their lifestyle and their relaxation, they like to read about it too".
