Teradata Defies IT Market Gloom 35% growth this year provides best results in a decade
AUCKLAND, New Zealand : Teradata Australia and New Zealand today announces that it has registered a 35 per cent year on year growth at the end of 2001. While other technology companies have slashed jobs and bemoaned poor performance, Teradata continues to grow, particularly in the telecommunications sector.
Teradata also grew its revenue from consulting and professional services which now account for approximately 1/3 of its revenue in Australia and New Zealand. The company, which is the largest data warehousing practice in New Zealand, has also increased its Australasian head count by nearly 50 percent within the last 12 months.
This year Teradata tripled its projected Australasian customer wins. Major new contract announcements have included Manukau City Council and Australia's two telecommunications giants Telstra and Optus.
"This year has been a great one for us with solid growth in both revenue and market penetration. I'm very pleased with our results as it is a direct reflection of the calibre of our people. It is a success not just for us, but for our clients who recognise the value of Teradata solutions," says Julian Beavis, vice president of Teradata for Australia and New Zealand.
The recent depressed economic conditions have forced many companies to review their technology decisions and overall business direction and postpone some major purchases.

In New Zealand, Teradata customers include The Warehouse, Guardian Trust and Manukau City Council. Australia-based customers include Telstra, Australian Taxation Office, Centrelink, Commonwealth Bank of Australia, National Australia Bank, St. George Bank, Qantas Airways, Village Roadshow,Tattersals, Optus and Vodafone.
