ACNielsen Wins TV Ratings Contract
ACNielsen Media International Wins TV Ratings Contract in New Zealand
Auckland, November 15, 2001: ACNielsen Media International’s leadership in television audience measurement in New Zealand has been re-affirmed as a result of the company winning a new TV ratings contract for a further seven years.
“We are delighted ACNielsen Media International has been awarded the TV ratings service for another seven years. It is a very significant endorsement of our ability to meet the needs of the television and advertising industry in the fast developing digital age,” said Nick Jones, executive director, ACNielsen Media International NZ.
“This contract underlines the leadership of ACNielsen Media International in New Zealand, Asia Pacific and globally.”
David O’Neill, managing director of ACNielsen New Zealand, said media research is a core part of ACNielsen’s business in New Zealand.
“ACNielsen has a proud heritage of providing TV audience measurement in New Zealand for the past 25 years, and looks forward to continuing to do so for many years to come.”
“This is a very exciting time for us all,” Jones added. “The scope of the new contract has enabled all parties to redefine the nature of television audience measurement for the marketplace and will provide many benefits to the subscriber base.”
The renewed contract will introduce new measurement technology and see the peoplemeter panel increase from 470 to 550 homes across New Zealand. While details on timing of the increased panel size are still to be confirmed, a new production system and new delivery software will support the new service.
Under the new contract, the industry will work through a transition period, enabling subscribers to continue to receive undisrupted television audience measurement services plus other ACNielsen Media International services such as Panorama and Advertising Information Services.
