IDG Communications

triple victory for publisher IDG Communications at Magazine Publishers Association Awards, held last night in Auckland.

PC World won Business Magazine of the Year, with the judges noting that the title has become "essential reading for the New Zealand computer-using public" and "succeeds against formidable overseas competition". Editor Chris Keall says the result reflects the extent that PC World, with its AC.Nielsen-rated readership of 151,000, has become an entrenched hit with mainstream business buyers.

To win Magazine of the Year, a title must prove success in readership, circulation and advertising sales, plus display excellence in editorial content and design.

Internet Magazine, which celebrates its first anniversary this December, won Best Launch in the Consumer category. The judges cited the rapid circulation growth revealed in the magazine's first audit.

Unlimited won Best Cover (Business), while Vincent Heeringa was a finalist for Editor of the Year, Nikki Mandow and Fiona Rotherham were finalists for Journalist of the Year, and Megan Colquhoun and Amanda Trayes were finalists for Designer of the Year.

Rounding off the haul, IDG General Manager Martin Bell was named Publishing Executive of the Year
