For immediate release 5 October 2001
NEW ZEALAND POST CALLS FOR REGISTRATION OF INTEREST FROM BUILDING CONTRACTORS FOR BANK PROJECT
New Zealand Post will advertise this weekend for registration of interest from building contractors to carry out work to prepare retail outlets for its proposed new bank.
Interim CEO for the new bank, Sam Knowles, said more than 300 Post Shops and Books & More retail outlets throughout the country would be modified prior to the roll-out of banking services from March next year. The work will include installation of customer meeting rooms, service facilities and signage.
Mr Knowles said particular attention had been made in the design requirements for the safety and security of customers and staff.
"The new bank will have security standards in line with those set and operated by mainstream banks while maintaining the personal environment of New Zealand Post's retail network.
"The look and feel our new bank will be warmer but the security will be no less rigorous than the existing banks."
The call for registration of interest is being made by New Zealand Post Properties Limited. Tendering companies must have experience in manufacturing and installing facilities for retail and banking operations. A maximum of four contractors will be chosen for the refit project which will begin early next year. Registration closes on Friday 12 October 2001.
