Telecom-Clear Agreement On Non Code Access
Telecom-Clear Agreement On Non Code Access For Mobile Calling
Telecom has reached commercial agreement with Clear Communications on Telecom’s provision of non-code access for land to mobile calls made from Telecom fixed lines.
Telecom’s General Manager, Interconnect, Tim Lusk, said today that Telecom and Clear had agreed commercial terms, and this meant that Clear would shortly be able to offer calls to 025, 027, 029 and 021 without their customers having to dial an access code.
“We have installed technology in the Telecom network that will enable Clear to offer non-code access for land to mobile calls while ensuring that customers have unimpeded choice between carriers for their national and international calling,” Mr Lusk said.
“Our arrangements with Clear provide for them to share the capital cost of building this technology into the Telecom network, as intended under the terms of the Interconnection Agreement.”
Mr Lusk said Telecom and Clear had agreed to submit some pricing aspects of this arrangement to an arbitrator although neither company wanted this to stand in the way of Telecom switching the service on.
