New Zealand's Southern Cross Healthcare Selects Diamond 950 Software Technology
New Agreement Represents a Significant Step Forward in Perot Systems' Expansion Into the Global Healthcare Marketplace
DALLAS, Texas, Aug. 7 /PRNewswire-AsiaNet/ -- Perot Systems Corporation (NYSE: PER) announced today that it has
licensed its DIAMOND(R) 950 health benefits administration software to Southern Cross Healthcare, New Zealand's largest
not-for-profit healthcare organization, with more than 980,000 members.
Perot Systems' proven and scalable DIAMOND technology will enable Southern Cross to better manage its eligibility data,
member health benefits, provider reimbursement, financial risk and other aspects of its benefit programs.
DIAMOND 950 software is an established and reliable solution that is able to handle large transaction volumes for
complex payor organizations like Southern Cross. DIAMOND applications, which are based on the Oracle(R) platform, have
an architecture that supports real-time, Web-enabled environments, which gives Southern Cross the flexibility to improve
workflow processes and service to providers, members, and employers.
"The capabilities that Aetna Health (NZ) had developed using DIAMOND software was one of the key reasons for the
acquisition of Aetna Health (NZ) by Southern Cross," said George Jepson, Southern Cross COO. "We have been impressed by
Perot Systems' willingness to understand the different needs within our market for health insurance. This has enabled us
to fast track the migration of our existing Southern Cross membership to DIAMOND 950, a project that will be completed
in less than 12 months."
"Southern Cross is an impressive force within the New Zealand health insurance market," said Chuck Lyles, Perot Systems
vice president of the Healthcare Industry Group. "This relationship provides a tremendous platform on which to expand
our global healthcare business."
The DIAMOND software was originally developed by Health Systems Design Corporate (HSD), which is now a wholly owned
subsidiary of Perot Systems. HSD was acquired by Perot Systems in December 2000.
