Neil Mackay, Industry New Zealand Chief Executive, says the success of the programme indicates it is fulfilling a real need in helping kick-start regional development.
“Just a handful of regions are still to apply for assistance from Industry New Zealand through the Regional Partnerships Programme, which means most areas throughout New Zealand have now begun the process of developing sustainable economic development plans for their areas,” he says.
“It is particularly pleasing to see how quickly businesses, councils, iwi, and other interested parties in the regions have come together to work collaboratively on planning for their region’s future, “ Mr Mackay says.
