Go-Shopping Goes Free
Leading online shopping mall www.go-shopping.co.nz has waived its subscription fee for six months.
Go Shopping recently signed its 100th merchant, retailer Hill & Stewart, and has gone free as part of an aggressive six-month membership drive.
Go Shopping’s founder Arion Holding’s Kerry Gordon said membership would be free for existing subscribers during the subscription holiday and new customers could also register for free to experience online shopping.
In addition to waiving its subscription fee for shoppers, Go Shopping is also reducing the cost to merchants of joining the mall and setting up a sales channel online.
Mr Gordon said “merchant numbers have reached a point where break even has been achieved, and this has allowed us to develop new aggressively priced products for merchants wanting a site in Go Shopping”.
The site has more than 4,500 members, generating $60,000 plus in sales each month.
Go-Shopping is based on electronic payment system NetFusion which means shoppers do not have to submit credit card details over the Internet, and merchants never see the customer’s credit card details.
“Security is probably the biggest issue for those shopping online,” said Mr Gordon. “Shoppers that are registered with Go-Shopping or NetFusion need have none of those concerns.”
Go-Shopping also features a multi-merchant shopping cart so shoppers pay only once for all the items in their shopping cart, even if they have come from a number of different merchants. Purchases are then itemised by merchant on their credit card or bank statement.
“Having a broad range of merchants online, able to make special offers to registered shoppers, means the Internet is only the beginning,” he said. “Mobile phone companies and the interactive television market have indicated their interest in this technology.”
