Sun And PeopleSoft Form Global CRM eBusiness Alliance

Companies Deliver High-Performance CRM Solution
to Communications and Brokerage Industries


Auckland, April 5, 2001 - Sun Microsystems Inc. (Nasdaq: SUNW) and PeopleSoft Inc. (Nasdaq: PSFT) today announced a strategic alliance to deliver a scalable, internet-ready customer relationship management (CRM) solution to better serve the communications and brokerage industries.

The global alliance will offer PeopleSoft's integrated enterprise CRM solution on Sun's SolarisTM 8 Operating Environment (OE) and JavaTM technology-based platforms. Sun and PeopleSoft will engage in joint sales, services and go-to-market activities. The companies will also collaborate on engineering efforts and work with customers in Sun's iForceTM Ready Center locations to create proof of concepts and develop architecture blueprints in an enterprise lab environment. PeopleSoft Consulting, SunTM Professional Services and leading system integrators will provide skilled, rapid and cost-effective implementations.

PeopleSoft CRM running on Sun's high-performance EnterpriseTM Servers and Sun StorEdgeTM platforms provides one of the industry's most reliable, available and scalable CRM solutions. Sun and PeopleSoft are focused on enabling brokerages and communications companies to reduce implementation time, lower total cost of ownership, ease integration and improve customer service, retention and profitability.

The joint solution will allow communications companies - including wireless, broadband, and satellite providers - to differentiate themselves with faster product launches, superior customer information and more effective targeted marketing.
