Respected journalist and business commentator Rod Oram has joined Unlimited magazine as a contributing editor.
After several months writing freelance for the award winning business magazine, Oram has stepped up his commitment by
becoming a regular, monthly feature writer and columnist. He is also providing strategic advice to Unlimited's editorial
team.
"Rod is proving a very important part of our team, not just as a highly valued contributor but also as mentor to our
journalists and to me as editor," says Vincent Heeringa, Unlimited's editor. "We're privileged to have such an
experienced and hard working journalist working for us."

of economic transformation -- the most important of all business issues not just in New Zealand but around the world."
"I reported on the US's remarkable transformation from rust-belt to high-tech economy in the 1970s and 1980s and the
UK's rebirth as a free-market, enterprise-driven economy in the 1980s and 1990s," he says. "But New Zealand is
confronting even bigger challenges and Unlimited is tuned in to the subject, approaching it in a positive and realistic
way."
Oram held a number of senior writing and editing posts in the UK and US during his 18-year career at the Financial
Times. He and his family emigrated to New Zealand in 1997 when he became editor of the Business Herald. He resigned from
the Herald in June, 2000.
As contributing editor at Unlimited, Oram will remain an independent operator, continuing his other roles such as
industry fellow in Unitec's New Zealand Centre for Innovation and Entrepreneurship and as a broadcaster. "This is a
non-exclusive arrangement," says Heeringa.
Oram's appointment tops a list of first class business writers now appearing in Unlimited, including Russell Brown,
Nikki Mandow, Deborah Hill, Gareth Morgan, Fiona Rotherham and Nevil Gibson.
Unlimited is New Zealand's leading business magazine, winning 19 journalism and design awards in just two years
including Magazine of the Year (Business & Professional) at the 1999 and 2000 New Zealand Magazine Awards. It was also awarded Best Magazine (Trade/Professional)
