- Scalability, consolidated billing and multi-state capability key to selection
Auckland – 11 December 2000 – Peace Software, a global provider of leading e-business solutions for retail energy companies, today announced that MidAmerican Energy Company, a supplier of energy in the Midwest’s rapidly deregulating energy markets, has selected Peace’s Energy™ software suite for rapid entry into multiple deregulated markets.
“First and foremost, Peace’s Energy is a better system for serving our unregulated electric and gas customers since we now have the capability to bill for multiple fuels, services and locations on a single statement,” said Todd Raba, vice president of marketing and sales at MidAmerican Energy.
Integral to MidAmerican’s e-business strategy is providing customers with energy usage and billing data online, anytime. “The benefits are two-fold. First, Energy is a tool to help us quickly deliver on our promise of exceptional customer service. An important part of that component is convenient and hassle-free bill payment. The new system also gives us the ability to offer our customers extended self-serve features, including customer enrolment, summary billing, more flexible due dates and electronic payment options,” continued Raba. “Second, it will benefit MidAmerican financially by eliminating several automated and manual processes required by our current system.”
Highly scalable and adaptable to various deregulated market models, Energy meets MidAmerican’s multi-state competitive focus. MidAmerican has sold more than one
billion kilowatt hours in Illinois’ deregulated market since last year and is also competing in the opening of the electric and natural gas markets in Ohio.
“Deregulation is changing the landscape of possibilities for energy companies, and they must move quickly to take advantage of emerging opportunities,” said Brian Peace, chairman and CEO of Peace Software. “MidAmerican is joining the wave of forward-thinking companies who are choosing Energy because of its flexibility, adaptability, scalability and cost-effectiveness in rapidly entering new markets.”
Peace’s track record of successful installations in numerous deregulated U.S. states also influenced MidAmerican’s selection decision. Rapid deployment of the system is underway with go live targeted for April 2001.
