Published: Thu 17 Aug 2000 10:18 AM
Mr Richard Slogrove, President, Operations of BT Ignite, today announced the appointment of Peter Kaliaropoulos as Chief Executive of CLEAR Communications.
Mr Kaliaropoulos, who will assume responsibility for CLEAR during September, is a BT executive who is currently Senior VP Commercial Operations / COO for StarHub, Singapore's new operator for both fixed and mobile telecommunications services, internet and broadband solutions. CLEAR's owner, BT, is an 18 percent shareholder in StarHub.
"Peter takes the reins of CLEAR at a very exciting stage of its development," said Mr Slogrove. "Both the company and the market in which it operates are undergoing significant change. CLEAR itself is delivering on its eBusiness strategy, is investing significantly in its infrastructure, and is enjoying significant growth in customer numbers and revenues.
"Peter is charged with leading the company into sustained growth in a market that we believe may well offer fresh opportunities for competition. He brings with him a blend of sales, marketing, operational and general management experience. Along with his expertise in the fast-developing fields of broadband and Internet services, this background equips him ideally for his new role."
Mr Slogrove thanked current Chief Executive Tim Cullinane, who leaves the role at the end of August. "Tim has guided the company through a tremendous period of transition, including the integration of CLEAR into BT, a major restructure, and a strategic review that has fundamentally re-oriented the company. The company that Tim leaves is vastly different from the one he took over, and the results of his leadership are now becoming apparent," said Mr Slogrove.
