How To Access The Wool Industry Future Directions Report
The second and final volume of the wool industry Future Directions Taskforce was released today.
The Taskforce, headed by the Hon Ian McLachlan AO, had some very important messages for woolgrowers and the future of their industry.
The Report illustrates, in plain terms, the stark realities of a depressed market and shifting demand patterns facing the industry. As well as being positive and encouraging, it also provides confronting, straightforward messages for growers.
The Report's key messages include:
the need for woolgrowers to take greater ownership and responsibility for their future;
a recognition that wool is not a homogenous product and should be treated accordingly;
a recognition of the importance of innovation and early implementation of new technologies; and the need to limit Government involvement.
Copies of the Report are being sent to various wool industry organisations and all those who made a submission to the Taskforce.
You can also access the Report via the Internet from the Future Directions Taskforce website at www.wooltaskforce.com.au
The Report will also be available from tomorrow (19/8/99) on the Agriculture Fisheries and Forestry - Australia (AFFA) website at www.affa.gov.au
