LET’S SEE THE ACC LEGISLATION BEFORE PRE-JUDGING
Business and business organisations should not be pre-judging the ACC legislation on the basis that it is being “rushed”
into Parliament before Christmas.
“Early introduction will in fact give business organisations the opportunity to make constructive submissions”, said
Michael Barnett, Chief Executive of the Auckland Regional Chamber of Commerce & Industry.
If the reform proposal is going to be bad for business, the time and place to make the case is when Parliament hears
Submissions.
For many years, business has been concerned at the lack of action by successive governments to move promptly ahead on
many business-related issues. “We can’t have it both ways and now turn around and condemn the Government for getting on
with actioning its mandate,” said Mr Barnett.
It is the detail of the changes that business must examine and make its case as to why the reform will take business
forward or be a backward step.
