BLACK DAY FOR AUCKLAND STUDENTS
The University of Auckland Council meets today to adopt a 10.9% increase in tuition fees for 2000 as part of a process that student leaders have denounced as a farce.
“Not only was there no consultation during the formulation of the proposal, only one option is being put before Council by University management. This is highly undemocratic as it leaves Council the option of either adopting the proposal or not setting fees at all,” said Eva Neitzert, Co-Education Vice President.
It is anticipated that students will voice their outrage at todays 4pm meeting in the Maidment Studio.
