NZ Police APEC Ops - Mail Deliveries During APEC

Published: Tue 7 Sep 1999 09:56 PM
Mail deliveries remain business as usual over APEC and mail should still be delivered on the same day it normally would.
Mail and items delivered to APEC accommodation and venues will be screened and searched at a police REMOTE SEARCH SITE. This site is in Auckland.
This only affects mail into the APEC venue and accommodation sites and will not affect normal mail deliveries.
Security arrangements have been made for mail boxes on the secure routes. This will include searching, clearing and sealing.
The searches are carried out by the Police Specialist Search Group (SSG).
Methods used at the REMOTE SEARCH SITE cannot be discussed for operational reasons but there are number of levels of security to ensure the safety of the venues and accommodation.
Road closures especially from Saturday 11 September until Tuesday 14 September may mean some changes to postal carriers but mail should still be delivered on the same day as normal.
These road closures may effect all businesses in the city to some degree and have been well advertised to minimize disruption as much as possible.
