APEC Police Digital Radios Canned
A high-tech police digital radio network specially designed to aid security enforcement at Auckland’s APEC leader’s summit meetings has been canned.
Tait Electronics in Christchurch has announced it cannot deliver the digital system in time for the APEC meetings.
The project is
estimated to have a total cost of $10 million. A
spokesperson for Tait said today the digital system was
“extremely new”. Police already have an analogue system in
use and will now also be used for as the main radio
communications during the APEC September
meetings.
