PROPOSED TEMPORARY ROAD CLOSURES - APEC

Under the Local Government Act 1974 Auckland City proposes closing: Aotea Square, from 6am Tuesday 7 September to 6am Tuesday 14 September, for the APEC conference.

Saturday 11 September: Temporary closures cover all movements from the airport, affecting Nelson Street from the Southern Motorway off-ramp to Cook Street and Cook Street from Nelson Street to Hobson Street. No stopping restrictions will operate between midnight on Friday 10 September and midnight on Saturday 11 September.

Saturday 11, Sunday 12, Monday 13 September: Temporary closures cover hotel and venue motorcades, affecting Wakefield Street from Mayoral Drive to Symonds Street; Symonds Street from Wakefield Street to Karangahape Drive; City Road from Symonds Street to Liverpool Street; Victoria Street West from Nelson Street to Queen Street; Victoria Street East from Queen Street to Bowen Avenue; Bowen Avenue from Kitchener Street to Princes Street; Waterloo Quadrant from Princes Street to Symonds Street; Queen Street from Victoria Street West to Wyndham Street; Wyndham Street from Queen Street to Nelson Street; Elliot Street from Darby Street to Victoria Street; Darby Street from Elliot Street to Queen Street; Albert Street from Customs Street West to Wellesley Street; Mayoral Drive from Wellesley Street West to Wakefield Street; Greys Avenue from Aotea Quare to Pitt Street (north side of Fire Station Building); Vincent Street from Mayoral Drive to Pitt Street (south of Shell service station); Pitt Street from Vincent Street to Greys Avenue (southbound eastern lane only); Wellesley Street West from Elliot Street to Federal Street; Cook Street from Mayoral Drive to Hobson Street; Nelson Street from Victoria Street West to Wyndham Street (northbound eastern lane only); Kingston Street from Albert Street to Federal Street; Swanson Street from Federal Street to Queen Street; the full length of Mills Lane; Wolfe Street from Albert Street to Federaol Street; the full length of Churchill Street North. A temporary no stopping restriction will operate on all the above roads from midnight Friday 10 September until midnight Monday 13 September.

Sunday 12 September: Temporary closures cover hotel, viaduct harbour and town hall motorcades, affecting Queen Street from Mayoral Drive to Wellesley Street; Airedale Street from Queen Street to Mayoral Drive; Lower Hobson Street from Customs Street to Quay Street; Lower Albert Street from Customs Street West to Quay Street; Quay Street from Commerce Street to Lower Hobson Street . A temporary no stopping restriction will operate on all the above roads from midnight Saturday 11 September to midnight Sunday 12 September.

Monday 13 September: Temporary closures will cover hotel and museum motorcades and all movements to the airport, affecting Alten Road from Symonds Street to Stanley Street; Stanley Street from Beach Road to Grafton Road; Hobson Street from Cook Street to Southern Motorway on-ramp. A temporary no stopping restriction will operate on all the above roads from midnight on Sunday 12 September to midnight on Monday 13 September.

These road closures have been applied for by the New Zealand Police on behalf of the APEC Task Force to allow the secure movement of motorcades associated with APEC. The road closures will be managed by the Police, who will facilitate the flow of normal traffic across secure routes once a motorcade has passed.
