More Bad News for Motorists - It is likely the other main oil companies will follow Mobil’s lead when it raises petrol prices by 3 cents a litre at midnight tonight. Tonight’s rise will be the third in a month making a total rise of 9 cents a litre. Mobil says it is reluctant to bump prices up again but it cannot sustain the current situation as crude oil prices are still rising. BP is justifying the rise saying crude oil prices have not yet peaked. It will be reviewing its own prices today. Shell and Caltex are adopting a wait and see approach, but Caltex says it is likely its prices will also rise.
Tornado Sweeps Through Salt Lake City - Early reports suggest at least four people are dead, officials are confirming one dead at this stage but admit there are many injuries. The tornado struck a centre where a trade convention was taking place causing widespread panic and extensive damage.
Police Search For
Dead Man’s Hand - Police on Great Barrier Island in the
Hauraki Gulf are investigating why a man found dead in his
home had one hand missing. A specialist search team is
scouring the island for the hand today. It belongs to Colin
Good whose badly decomposed body was found in June. The body
of his dog was found beside him. Police have consulted an
Australian forensic pathologist in an effort to find out how
the man died. Police have also consulted with a forensic
veterinarian and a forensic dentist to see if they can
assist in unravelling the mystery of how the man’s hand came
to be
missing.
