Deep Regret Expressed at Death of Samoan Minister
Labour Pacific Island Affairs Spokesperson Taito Phillip Field today expressed a deep sadness and shock at the assassination of Samoan Minister of Public Works Luagalau Levaula Kamu.
Mr Levaula was well respected both in Samoa and amongst the Samoan community in New Zealand. He was particularly well known in Auckland from his time as chairman of the Samoan Advisory Council in Auckland.
This killing is a sad event that has never happened before in the modern political history of Samoa.
I express sympathies
and condolences to his wife, his children and to his family
and also extend my condolences to his parliamentary
colleagues, the Prime Minister and Government of Samoa, as
well as to the people of Samoa and the Samoan community here
in New Zealand, Mr Field
said.
