Three Air New Zealand regional aircraft were struck by lightning earlier today and are being reviewed by engineering teams to ensure they are safe to fly, the airline says.
General manager for airports Kate Boyer says they have been keeping a close eye on the weather.
The airline's services were briefly paused this afternoon when wind conditions meant it was not safe to operate at Auckland Airport.
Twenty-four regional services were cancelled, and the customers are being put on the next available service to get them to their destinations.
