Council Encourages Submissions To Government On Three Waters

Published: Mon 4 Jul 2022 03:50 PM
A letter to the Marlborough community from Mayor John Leggett is being published today (attached), encouraging Marlborough residents to make their voice heard by making a submission to the Government on its Three Waters reform proposal, by 22 July 2022.
Marlborough District Council continues to strongly oppose the Government’s mega model Three Waters reform proposal, details of which can be found on the Department of Internal Affairs website at www.dia.govt.nz/Three-Waters-Reform-Programme
The Water Services Entities Bill has had its first reading in Parliament and has been referred to the Government’s Finance and Expenditure Select Committee. Marlborough District Council will be making a submission, which will be based on the concerns expressed in the attached letter and the finalised reform options proposed by Communities 4 Local Democracy, of which Marlborough District Council is a member.
Any member of the public can make a submission to the select committee. You can find details on the Parliament website at www.parliament.nz/en/pb/sc/make-a-submission/document/53SCFE_SCF_BILL_124081/water-services-entities-bill
