Our post-peak summer Kerbside rubbish and recycling schedule is now in effect, with one rubbish collection per week and
fortnightly recycling pick-up.
The fortnightly recycling collection cycle starts this week with Week 1. Check your recycling wheelie bin’s address
label for the number 1 or 2 next to your collection day. If it says Tue 01, for example, you’re in a Week 1 area. Put
your wheelie bin and glass recycling crate out by the kerb with any rubbish in an official, pre-paid blue Council bag by
7:30am.
And please put your rubbish bag on the ground by the kerb. Bags hung from poles or trees, or left in cages or boxes,
will not be collected.

If you’re leaving town before your collection day, please don’t put your rubbish and recycling out early to provide a
feast for gulls or roaming dogs – instead, take it to one of our seven Refuse Transfer Stations (RTS) and drop it for no
charge.
Our RTSs are open to their extended summer hours until the end of February. Check their hours and locations on our
website at tcdc.govt.nz/rts. Our Matarangi, Pauanui, Tairua and Whangamata RTSs have 24/7 drop-off facilities for blue Council rubbish bags and
recycling.
We’ve also got several portable rubbish compactors where you can dispose of bagged domestic rubbish for $2 in coins (any
combination of NZ coins) per bag. One bag only in the chute at a time, please, or you risk jamming the compactor
mechanism.
They are located at:
• Kuaotunu Boat Ramp – also known as Quarry Point Boat Ramp. SH25 opposite 88 Kuaotunu-Wharekaho Rd.

• Opoutere - beside the public toilets on the corner of Ohui and Opoutere roads, near the campground.
•
• Old Coroglen Saleyard site – immediately south of the SH25 bridge over the Waiwawa River. 1909 SH25
Tairua-Whitianga Rd, near the junction with the Tapu-Coroglen Rd.
