Future of Wildfoods Festival confirmed

Published: Mon 6 May 2019 10:58 AM
The future of Westland’s Wildfoods festival was settled during the Public Excluded part of the Extraordinary Council meeting on Friday, 3 May. Earlier in the week, there was uncertainty as to who would run the event after Destination Westland announced that it was winding down its events department.
Mayor Bruce Smith confirmed that Destination Westland would continue to run the event, as per their Statement of Intent with the advice and support of Westland Holdings Ltd as their shareholder. “This is a good outcome for the people of Westland. Many community organisations rely on this event to fundraise for the year and we want to enable them to continue to do so, as well as maintain the strong brand that Wildfoods has become.”
The next Wildfoods Festival will be held on Saturday 7 March 2020.
