Foodstuffs South Island Community Trust Seeks New Major Funding Recipient

Foodstuffs (South Island) supports the people and organisations in the communities it serves, by lending a helping hand to those in need through its community trust. The Foodstuffs (South Island) Community Trust (the Trust) helps mainlanders and South Island organisations big and small, achieve their goals by supporting them with critical funding. It is with pleasure that the Trust announces they are seeking expressions of interest for a new major funding recipient to start in early 2020.

“The Trust’s goal is to help the South thrive and better the lives of South Islanders,” said Justin Smith, Chairman, Foodstuffs (South Island) Community Trust. “In 2018 alone, the Trust provided funding exceeding $400,000 to southern community organisations, school and education initiatives, and sports and recreation clubs. The Trust is now seeking to fund an organisation with a community-based benefit across the South Island. We strive to support every community in the South Island, and the Trust enables us to do this.”

The St John Friends of the Emergency Department (FED’s) programme has been the Trust’s major funding recipient for the past nine years. The programme includes 13 services in eight different South Island hospitals and provides non-clinical support to patients and their families. The Trust was recognised for their ongoing support of St John in 2018 with a “Priory Vote of Thanks” award, which is the highest level of recognition to people or institutions who provide significant service to the Order of St John.

“We’ve been able to grow the St John FEDs programme into what it is today because of the faith and support the Trust has had in us since day one,” said Debbie Pipson, Fundraising and Marketing Manager, St John New Zealand, South Island Region. “The Trust’s outstanding partnership and contribution to St John over the years has enabled us to provide invaluable support to patients and their families throughout the South Island.”
