Sky Tower becomes Sri Lankan flag to remember victims

This Sunday marks a week since the tragic bombings took place in Sri Lanka, where many innocent lives were lost, and people were injured.

To honour the victims and stand in solidarity with the Sri Lankan community and all those affected, the Sky Tower will be lit in the colours of the Sri Lankan flag – red, orange and green, from Sunday evening until 1 May.

The Sky Tower is the Southern Hemisphere’s tallest free-standing structure. Based in the heart of Auckland, the Sky Tower is one of New Zealand’s most recognisable landmarks.

SKYCITY lights the Sky Tower for charities or community initiatives that we support financially, to mark national holidays, milestones or other celebrations or events, or as a symbol of respect or solidarity.
