Anzac Day services to be livestreamed

Published: Tue 23 Apr 2019 04:24 PM
Hamilton’s Anzac Day services at Memorial Park will be livestreamed for the first time this year.
Both the Dawn Service and Civic Service will be broadcast on Hamilton City Council’s website.
Hamilton City Council Event Manager Tracey Wood says the initiative means Hamiltonians who are out of town or unable to attend can watch their local commemorations.
“We appreciate that some people can’t be there in person to pay their respects, so this is a way for them to still be involved,” she says.
“While attending a service is an important part of Anzac Day, the most important thing is remembering and paying tribute to those who have served our country in conflict and peacekeeping missions. The livestream allows people to do that and be connected to their community at the same time.”
The Dawn Service starts at 6am and the Civic Service at 10am. To watch the livestreams, visit myhcc.nz/anzaclive.
For those attending the services, two large screens at each end of Memorial Park will show the official proceedings around the Cenotaph.
