TAIC investigating train derailment at Palmerston North

THE Transport Accident Investigation Commission is inquiring into the train derailment that occurred at Palmerston North at about 10pm last night [EDS: 4 April 2019].
The reported circumstances are that a loaded freight train travelling derailed at the junction between the Main North and Napier lines. Six wagons derailed and spilled loaded logs.
The Chief Investigator of Accidents appointed a team of investigators. They arrived at the site this morning.
