Applications open for annual events funding

Applications have now opened for Queenstown Lakes District Council’s annual Events Fund and event organisers can submit their funding applications until 5.00pm on Tuesday 30 April 2019.

The events fund aims to promote and support a balanced portfolio of new and existing sporting and cultural event experiences that meet the economic, marketing and community objectives of the district as a whole.

Aligned with the 2015 Events Strategy, the fund helps our district be an ‘event friendly’ location for event organisers. The fund is open to applications from event organisers large and small, with either a commercial or community focus.

QLDC Relationship Manager Arts and Events Jan Maxwell advised there have been some changes to the funding criteria this year.

“A key change is that we are looking to develop strong relationships with event organisers who have a sustainable focus, good health and safety practices, and a commitment to delivering an event that is accessible for all,” said Mrs Maxwell.

“These are particular areas that as a local government body we want to encourage and support event organisers to prioritise when planning their events,” Mrs Maxwell added.

Full information on the funding criteria, key dates, and the application process is available on the QLDC website: www.qldc.govt.nz/event-funding.

Applications close at 5.00pm on 30 April 2019 and no late applications will be accepted. Decisions will be advised by the end of June 2019.
