Hutt City Council Civic Honours Awards

13 March 2019

Get your nominations in for the Hutt City Council Civic Honours Awards

Nominations are open for Hutt City Council’s annual Civic Honours Awards, which celebrate the dedication and achievements of volunteers who make Lower Hutt great.

Lower Hutt Mayor and Chair of the Civic Honours Committee Ray Wallace says the Civic Honours Awards is one of the most important annual events on the city’s calendar and a fantastic way to acknowledge the importance of the contributions local people make to our community.

“The awards committee loves to see the applications come in and read about the amazing people in our city who have dedicated significant time and energy over a number of years. It gives us the opportunity to hear about the great deeds that go on across the city every day and publicly recognise these significant achievements at a formal awards evening.”

There are two types of Civic Awards to nominate for:

· Community Services (Civic Honour) - recognising outstanding, long-term voluntary community service

· Youth Services - recognising outstanding voluntary community service from 15-25 year olds

Mayor Wallace is encouraging everyone to make a nomination.

“These awards are a vital way to acknowledge important contributors to our community. If you know someone who has been working behind the scenes in our community for many years and deserves recognition, make sure you nominate them.”

Nominations close Friday 5 April 2019 at 5pm and the combined nomination form and guide can be downloaded on the Hutt City Council website or copies can be collected from Council’s building on Laings Road or any Hutt City Library.

Recipients will receive a certificate and silver medal presented to them by the Mayor at an Awards celebration in July.
