KiwiBuild comes to Northland - 10 homes in Kotātā Heights

The first ten KiwiBuild homes to be built in Northland are in the new suburb of Kotātā Heights in Whangarei, and are ready to buy now.

The KiwiBuild homes are a combination of two and three bedroom brick, standalone homes with internal access garages, elevated and sunny outlooks, and semi-rural and harbour views.

Kotātā Heights is a new development within walking distance of Whangarei’s city centre. It’s close to schools, Whangarei Hospital, the city’s bus routes and NorthTec.

The brand new KiwiBuild homes are priced at $460,000 for a two-bedroom and $500,000 for a three-bedroom home, compared to the average house price in Whangarei of $561,000-. Whangarei house prices rose 10% in the past year- which is one of the fastest rates of increase in the country, and the city’s population is growing by nearly two thousand people a year.--

Head of KiwiBuild Delivery, Helen O’Sullivan says "Whangarei needs affordable homes. KiwiBuild is working with private developers to build some of the most affordable new-builds in the city.

"Kotātā Heights provides a high quality, centrally located, and affordable option for local first time buyers, and for people who are considering moving to Whangarei for the lifestyle.

"These homes will be offered to eligible KiwiBuild buyers by direct sale meaning you can start the process of buying your home immediately and you won’t have to go through a ballot.

"The Government aligned the caps for HomeStart grants with KiwiBuild price caps in December so KiwiBuild buyers may be eligible for up to $20,000 towards their deposit," says Helen O’Sullivan.

The first three KiwiBuild homes are nearly complete and the remaining seven will be completed between now and June.
