Commerce St beautification

Published: Thu 14 Feb 2019 04:04 PM
Next week sees the start of work on the final of a three stage project to beautify the footpaths and road edge along a section of Commerce St in Frankton.
The work is one of the projects in Hamilton City Council’s Frankton Neighbourhood Plan which aims to enhance this part of Frankton Village as a destination.
This year the stretch of Commerce St between Lake Rd and Keddell St will be completed, with existing cobbles and kerb and channeling removed and replaced by new pavers and asphalt section dividers, in line with work previously done on the section between High and Keddell Sts.
The team will be working day and at night during the week to get the job done quickly, with most of the noisy and dusty work done at night to reduce inconvenience to shop owners and pedestrians. it expected to take around three weeks.
Due to access and safety issues Commerce St may be closed at times to traffic between Lake Rd and Keddell St, but will be open to pedestrians and there will be no impact on the Frankton Market.
People in the area are thanked in advance for their patience and understanding while this work is done.
