i-SITE premises in Kapiti to close
Kāpiti Coast District Council has made the operational decision to close the Kāpiti i-SITE premises in the Coastlands complex and look at how these services can be delivered elsewhere from within Council.
Group Manager Place and Space James Jefferson says the i-SITE operating model is not financially sustainable as it is currently set up, with low volumes of customers visiting or using the site’s services.
“Monitoring over the past months of how the i-SITE model is working has made it clear the cost of operating the site far outweighs the number of people using the services on offer and that’s not good use of ratepayers’ funds,” he said.
Council plans to close the premises before the end of the current financial year.
“We are now working through a range of things with the staff at the i-SITE,” Mr Jefferson said.
“That includes involving them in the discussions to identify the best way for some of the current services to be provided in the Council’s existing structure in the future.”
Council will also be talking with customers and other stakeholders in the District to help inform decisions about what services need to be maintained and how best to deliver them.
