The Parnell Pigs are on the street!
The ‘Parnell Pigs’ are taking centre stage in Auckland this Chinese New Year.
With their chubby faces and big ears, as well as the fact they are a sign of good fortune, we gladly welcome Year of the Pig to Parnell!
2019 is the fourth year in a row Parnell celebrates Chinese New Year with an Art Exhibition and Auction. This year sees over 20 renowned artists and celebrities taking part to create a ‘Pig of their own’ with the sole purpose being, to raise money for Starship - National Air Ambulance.
The precious Pigs will be on display up and down Parnell Road from tomorrow to the 24th February!
During this exhibition time, you're invited to pick up a map from local cafés and galleries or download from www.parnell.net.nz. You can then take yourself on the leisurely ‘Little Piggy Walk of Parnell’ and decide which is your favourite.
If you feel tempted to place a pre-auction bid, each Pig sculpture on show will have a QR code displayed to assist you in placing an early bid online and get into the excitement. You are welcome to bid on as many Pigs as you like, with bids over $500 being accepted. You are encouraged to view each Pig 'in situ' before making a bid.
Pre - Auction bids can be made directly through www.parnell.net.nz.
The artists and celebrities involved this year bring their passion, their talent and their unique flare to each ‘piggy piece’. Artists such as Joseph Qiu, Paul Walsh, Carolina Izzo, Alvin Pankhurst, Aroha Gossage and Award-Winning China-based Shen Ming Cun to name a few.
Following the Year of the Pig Exhibition, each art piece will be auctioned for charity on Thursday February 28th at Jonathan Grant Galleries, 280 Parnell Road.
The live auction provides an opportunity to meet some of the talented artists and celebrities as well as place final bids on your chosen "Little Pig". Proceeds from the auction go to the Starship Foundation - Air Ambulance Service.
BID NOW on your favourite 'one off' piece of art and help raise money for Starship this Chinese New Year!
