Published: Thu 24 Jan 2019 12:54 PM
Update to the response from Hastings District Council to the Cape Kidnappers landslide as follows: The beach access from Clifton to Cape Kidnappers remains closed to vehicles and pedestrians until further notice and the public are strongly advised to keep away from this area until further notice.
Agencies are urgently coordinating geotech expertise from around NZ who can access the area in order to inform next steps. This is expected to begin late this afternoon.
Until this geotech assessment has been completed the beach access to Cape Kidnappers will remain closed.
HDC is also working closely with all stakeholders and associated agencies.
