Boat fire near Waiheke Island

Police were informed around 7am this morning of a fire on board a boat in Hauraki Gulf about 40 metres from the beach at Hooks Bay.
The fire is thought to have started in the engine room at about 6.30am.
Emergency services were at the scene including Deodar, the Auckland Police Maritime Unit, with the assistance from Fire and Emergency New Zealand.
At least five people were on board the boat at the time and all were rescued. All occupants were wearing life-jackets.
One person was taken by Westpac rescue helicopter to hospital suffering smoke inhalation.
