Road safety operation - Wellington

Published: Thu 13 Dec 2018 04:31 PM
Wellington Police are on a mission to ensure drivers keep themselves and other road users safe this holiday season.
From Monday 17 to Saturday 22 December, Police will be conducting a road safety operation throughout Wellington, Porirua and Kapiti, focusing on seatbelts and impairment.
“Not wearing a seatbelt is one of the four main contributors to death and serious injury on our roads, along with not speed, impairment and distraction,” Senior Sergeant Dean Gorrie, Officer in Charge, Wellington & Kapiti Mana Road Policing Team says.
“We want all road users to get where they’re going safely this Christmas, so Police will be out conducting random checks through the wider Wellington region next week.
“These could take place anywhere at any time, so buckle up, be patient and drive free from impairment and distractions.”
