Homicide investigation launched following Sandringham death

A homicide investigation, Operation EPOPEUS, has been launched following the death of a man in Sandringham.
Police located the body at a property on Calgary Street around 7am on Tuesday, 11 December 2018.
A scene examination has continued today and Police staff remain at the property.
A post-mortem examination has taken place today.
The formal identification of the deceased is being completed and we are unable to release the name of the victim at this time.
Our sympathies are with his family at this extremely difficult time.
Auckland City Police Detective Inspector Aaron Pascoe says Police are still working to establish the full circumstances surrounding this death.
“We are following lines of enquiries and working hard to identify anyone responsible to ensure they are held to account.
“We want to hear from anyone who has any information at all which may assist our investigation.
“Finally we also want to hear from anyone who witnessed suspicious activity on Calgary Street before 7am on Tuesday morning,” says Detective Inspector Pascoe.
