Council making building consents easier
A new system to make applying for a building consent with Hamilton City Council more convenient and cost effective is launching on Wednesday 12 December.
In the new online system, customers will be able to submit a building consent application, upload further information and track the progress of their consent.
The Council’s Building Unit Manager Cory Lang says the project is focused on the customer experience.
“We’ve been testing the system with a cross section of our customers over the last few months. The response so far has been overwhelmingly positive,” says Mr Lang.
“The online system means applications can be submitted from anywhere at any time and our customers can have wider visibility of what’s happening with their application. This means our customers will be more informed and assist them to forward plan their projects!”
“We will still accept paper applications, although we encourage anyone looking to make an application to give the new system a go.”
The Council also offers a free service where people looking to build can come and get professional advice, about the consent application process.
